Coast to Coast Masonry did work for our house, involving: chimney repair/rebuild, fireplace cleaning/repair, liner install, and custom removal of some fragile terra cotta blocks. Specifically, I'm writing in regards to our main contact for the job: Art Zuber. While I met some of the other workers briefly, Art was the main person we communicated while Coast to Coast Masonry was on site. I want to convey how immensely grateful we were to have Art leading the work. As a homeowner, this work is one of the more involved endeavors we've undertaken, and I went into things with some degree of concern/worry. In talking with Art, he put both me and my wife at ease with his knowledge, with his explanations, and with his kind interactions. Generally, contractors come in and want to know the task to be done, and then do the task. Working with Art, it felt like we had a partner in our project. He wasn't simply doing what he was told, he wasn't simply telling us how things needed to be... it felt like he was standing side by side with us. And that we were tackling the project together. When issues or questions arose, Art gave us options and recommendations. But at no time did I feel pressured in any way. Art was always clear that the ultimate decision was ours, but he provided excellent counsel on our way to that decision. There was more than one time where Art stayed late (after 5PM), talking with us and our ever-growing list of questions. His patience and his explanations were invaluable to us, and to say he went above and beyond is an understatement. In addition to the excellent work done by the Coast to Coast masons, I cannot emphasize how much we enjoyed working with Art, and how helpful he was. They were very accommodating to working with a tight timeframe we had. They completed extensive work including removal and reconstruction of a parapet wall, tuck pointing, sourcing new bricks and utilizing older bricks where they would be more visible, replacing glass bricks and exterior wall reconstruction for some crumbling bricks that had been previously covered with stucco. All of this work was completed in approximately 1 week, they left things extremely clean at the end of each day. Coast to Coast Masonry was founded by Stanley Zuber and Romen Zajac — two craftsmen who built their business on quality, honesty, and a deep commitment to every client they serve.
Over 30 years later, both founders are still hands-on in the field. Their sons, Art and Kevin, have joined the company — carrying on the same family values and old-world masonry craftsmanship that made CTC a household name across Chicagoland.
